Building Character from the Inside Out

Many years ago, wealthy people who owned lots of land would have stewards, or managers, to keep their property in good repair, to collect rent from farmers using the land, and to be in charge of the other servants. The steward would also do the bookkeeping for the landowner.
We can think of God as being the rich landowner. He really owns everything we have. We are His stewards, and we are to use wisely all that He has given us for His glory.
Let’s read what the Bible says about God’s ownership:

GRATITUDE
DEFINITION: Gratefulness, thankfulness
MEMORY VERSES:
Psalm 100 (A psalm for giving thanks)
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his,
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
LOYALTY
DEFINITION: Faithfulness; being unchanging in our devotion to someone or something.
MEMORY VERSES:
John 15:13 - Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friend.

OBEDIENCE
DEFINITION: Obedience is willingly, promptly, and cheerfully doing
whatever an authority (such as a parent, grandparent, teacher, or God)
asks. It is also doing what you know that person would desire even if you
havent been specifically told.
MEMORY VERSES:
Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord for this is right.
Colossians 3:20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this
pleases the Lord. |
